Even though I have loved music and dancing since I can remember, I didn't take a single dance lesson until I was in my late twenties (apart from some basic ballet classes when I was a young child). At this time in my life, I had just moved from Halifax to Toronto to pursue a career in public relations. I was struggling to find personal happiness in both that profession and my new home. Having grown up with so much natural beauty all around me in Nova Scotia, the concrete buildings of downtown Toronto didn't seem to provide me with the same quality of nourishing impressions.

So, as strange as it might sound, I embarked on a search to find a source of natural beauty that would speak to me. I found it in a dingy little ballroom dance studio in a poorer west-end Toronto neighbourhood. Who would have guessed? Certainly not me. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The once-a-week beginner's social dance class developed into dancing competitively in Latin and Standard dance competitions in Ontario and Montreal, and teaching several of my own dance classes.

In 2000, I returned to Nova Scotia so that I could focus more seriously on my professional dancing. I trained with Jane Edgett at Edgett International Dance studio in Halifax where I continued to dance competitively and passed my Latin Ballroom Teaching Exams with the Canadian Dance Teacher's Association.

In 2008, I decided it was time to venture out on my own. So here I am with my own dance studio.

Dreams do come true!
